Board Member Helen Martin hosted a second TDS Yard Sale in late September in Madison, Wis., that raised $1,085.
The money will help TDS pursue its mission of improving the quality of life for youth, especially girls, in the Mara region.
Students at a local high school helped gather donations, and Martin collected funds from many Westside Madison neighborhoods.
“The community was very supportive once they knew something about the organization,” Martin said. “Some people made additional donations or rounded up the amount of their sale price.”
During the Yard Sale, Martin was surprised to find many of her neighbors had traveled to Tanzania or somewhere else in Africa.
This was a more profitable TDS Yard Sale than Martin has held in previous years, and Martin may host it again in the fall of 2018.
